Reading and writing is an integral part of our lives and it
is instilled in us at a very tender age. When it comes to reading awareness
about phonics sound is crucial. According to National Reading Panel making
children aware of phonics helps them in a number of walks of life. It aids them
to understand how to spell the word and how would you spell a word correctly if
you do not know how do they actually sound? Teaching children phonics equips
them with an ability to spell the words and phrases correctly.
When you are looking at a fluent reading phonics
recognization is important. However, please take note that here fluency is not
merely restricted to reading fast rather it implies reading accurately and
correctly. Teaching phonics accurately makes it easy for a child to read. It
will also help him/her in reading at a fast pace. This is one of the vital
benefits of phonics reading.
My teaching career has always made me witness a lot many
numbers of children who face issues at the basic level f reading. They find it
tedious and difficult to recognize words along with their sounds. Inculcating learning activities for kids and help
them in recognizing the sound is crucial. Phonics reading makes the children
draw an association between a word, letter and its sound which enhances their
ability to read and write. I cannot even imagine students reading fluently if
we at all decide to remove phonics learning from the syllabus.
I have also understood that when it comes to the improvement
of a kid’s reading comprehension; phonics contributes in a large way. It is
nearly not possible for anyone to understand a word without the knowledge of
its pronunciation. When your kid learns the clear pronunciation of the word, he
or she becomes easily able to comprehend what he or she reads.
Vocabulary it yet another aspect one can be benefitted from
phonics reading. There are numerous educationalgames for kids available in the market which can help your kid understand
and enhance his or her vocabulary certainly on daily basis.
